We honor Janet Jones-Owen this month. Janet has been registered with St. John’s since February, 2011.
Regardless of where she was living, one constant in Janet’s life has been her commitment to the church and to her Catholic faith. After moving to Florida in Janet became a member of St John the Evangelist Church. She was looking for a parish community that was as welcoming, spiritual, and active as her previous church, St Matthias of Somerset NJ. Janet confirms that she certainly found that feeling of community here at St John’s and that it was evident from how welcomed she felt at her very first Mass.
Janet’s faith and her commitment to ministry has been fostered all her life by her grandmother and mother, who lived by the motto: “Always share what God has blessed you with.” She continues to encourage that same feeling in her children, Jared and Jordanne, who are both frequent visitors to St John whenever they are visiting Florida.
During her time as part of our community, Janet has been part of the Faith Formation Ministry where she taught 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in creating their catholic identities. She currently serves as a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, and was CO- Coordinator for the Liturgy Team for the International Festival last year. She has also made a commitment to join our Baptism Team giving instructions to parents and assisting the priest during the Baptism.
As well as her commitment to St. John’s she has been on the Board of Directors for Family Promise since 2015 and is a realtor.
Janet, thank you for your commitment and devotion to St. John the Evangelist and in the community of Brevard County. We are so blessed to have you in our community!
