St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community and the Knights of Columbus Council #6125 are proud to announce that Brian, Jennifer, Julia, and Lily Nufer, and Jen’s mom Denise McNabb, are St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community’s Familyof the Month for February 2024.
The Nufers have been members of St. John’s for over 10 years. Brian and Jennifer are both engineers and have worked for NASA for over 20 years. Brian works in spacecraft propulsion and design, and Jennifer is a Mission Manager for the Launch Services Program. The return to flight of the Space Shuttle Program brought them from NASA Langley in Virginia to NASA Kennedy Space Center in 2005, and they were married in 2006. Brian is originally from Angola, Indiana, and Jennifer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Julia is a freshman and Lily is in 7th grade at Holy Trinity. In addition, the girls are also involved in violin, acting, basketball, Latin, lacrosse, Tri-M, and the National Junior Honor society. At St. John’s, Lily attends the Anchored in Faith program, and Julia attends the Faith in Action Teens’
Confirmation preparation class. She is looking forward to being Confirmed this May with her grandmother, Denise McNabb (also an SJEparishioner), asher sponsor.
In 2015, at Father Brad’s request, Brian and Jennifer joined the Baptism Preparation Ministry, and in 2019, they took on the leadership role. Over the last few years, they revamped the Baptism Class curriculum, integrating experiences from raising their daughters in the faith. The Nufers work together as a family in this Ministry. The girls often assist in gathering materials for ceremonies and setting up for Baptism Preparation class. Welcoming the newest members of this faith community is the most joyful and deeplyfulfilling part of their work. The Ministryhasbeen an incredible blessing for them, and they aredeeplygrateful. Thank you, Brian, Jennifer, Julia and Lily, for your commitment to serve. You are a blessing to the Parish. We applaud you for your dedication toour Community.
