June Family of the Month

Dan and Maryann Evans met at a religious, co-ed retreat on Oct. 11, 1985 at St. John Seminary in Boston, MA. Three years later, they married on July 1, 1988. Their foundation in their faith in Jesus is strong, and they have volunteered in several Catholic churches during their 33 years of marriage.

For eight years, they prayed for children, only to have doctors tell them otherwise after Maryann suffered numerous miscarriages. One weekend in 1995, Dan and Maryann decided to take a drive to the Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge, MA where they prayed and then received a blessing with the original relic of then Blessed Faustina from Poland.

One year later, their prayers were answered, and Dan and Maryann were blessed with twin boys, Luke and John.

In 2004, their jobs moved them away from family and down to Florida. Then, in 2006, the Evans family joined St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community. Since then, Dan has attended the Christ Renews His Parish Retreat twice and has served as a lector.

Maryann has also been involved in Christ Renews His Parish and has served as a Eucharistic Minister and leader of the Joy of the Lord Charismatic Prayer Group. She was recently named Viera High School’s Teacher of the Year for 2020/2021.

During Middle School and High School, both Luke and John volunteered for Vacation Bible School and Youth Choir at the 4:30 p.m. Sunday Mass. It was through Youth Group that John met his beautiful bride to be, Alexis DiValerio. They will be married on 5 November of this year.

One thing that the Evans family would like you to know is that with love and faith in Jesus, all things are possible!
