The Family of the Month award has been presented by the Knights of Columbus as part of their Faith in Action initiative. This past month’s award is being presented to a family whose passionate involvement in the community has recognized them as faithful servants. St. John the Evangelist community and the Knights of Columbus Council # 6125 are proud to announce that Michael and Carol LaFountain are the Family of the Month for June. Congratulations!
Mike was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, and lived most of his life in New Jersey; Carol was born in Wilkes Barre, PA. Mike was employed by Jersey Central Power and Light Co, now First Energy. They moved to Florida in 2000 and belonged to St. John’s from day one. Two of their grandchildren, Caleb and Kady Christensen, were both baptized by Father Lou in 2009.
Mike and his wife of 55 years as of June 22, 2023, have two sons Mike and Frank, daughter Amy, along with grandchildren Caroline, Chloe, Caleb, Kady, and great-grandchildren Jonah and Lilly. The family has pledged support to the projects of our church and support Catholic Charities of Orlando. On the lighter side, they took 1st place 3 years in a row in the Trunk or Treat event!
Mike has had the honor to work as an usher and lead usher for the last 20+ years since St John’s started at the courthouse. Both have also volunteered for many functions throughout the years.
