COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN (CCW)

The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is affiliated with The National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) that was founded in 1920 at the call of Bishops of the United States.   Council is related to the National Council of Catholic Bishops through the Bishop’s Committee on the Laity and to the United States Catholic Conference as an affiliated organization.   It is composed of affiliated local, parish, diocesan and state organizations.

SJE Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is an affiliation of the Southern Deanery of the Orlando Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, which is affiliated with the National Council of Catholic Women.  SJE Council focuses on these three objectives: Spirituality (to share and learn more about our faith), Social Interaction (to meet, socialize and support other women of the parish), and Service (to support the needs of our parish and participate in concerns that affect women and their families).

CCW meets at 1:00pm on the  3rd Wednesday of each month in the St. Sebastian rooms.  For more information contact the coordinator or for a membership application click here.

Coordinator: Linda Trucano - 305-5095

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by a 29-year old parish priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, in New Haven, CT. It is the largest Catholic fraternal service organization in the world with over 1.6 million members in a dozen different countries, including the United States.

The local council, Father Charles Spellman Council, No. 6125, performs charitable works and provides financial support to a number of individuals, groups and organizations. In addition, the council's social activities give ample opportunities to meet new people.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS LADIES AUXILIARY

The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary was formed in 1996 to assist the Knights of Columbus Council 6125 in their charitable works.

This organization acts as a charity arm of the Knights of Columbus and also provides the fellowship to help women grow intellectually and spiritually. The Ladies Auxiliary is open to all women of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community. General Membership Meeting is on the second Thursday each month.

MOMS GROUP

If you have young children, we invite you to join our Mom’s Group. The purpose of our group is to meet and interact with other moms and families within our Parish.

Bible Study: Lydia, a wife, and mother of four leads our group as we discuss the challenges and joys that come with parenting and how to bring our families closer to God.  This is an excellent opportunity to share and learn more about our Catholic Faith.  We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at St. John the Evangelist Church from 10-11AM.  Babysitting is provided free of charge.  Childcare space is limited so please email prior to attending.  Infants are welcome to stay with mom.

Playgroup: The playgroup gives you the opportunity to meet and talk with other moms with young children.  It also gives your child the chance to meet and interact with children their own age.  We get together on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month from 9:30-11:30AM at: playgrounds, the zoo, other member’s homes, and Church.

PARISH LIFE COMMITTEE

The Parish Life Committee was one of the first non liturgical ministries begun shortly after the beginning of our Parish with the first Wine and Cheese  Social at the Knights Hall. For many years they took care of registration and welcoming Socials for new Parishioners; twice a year they produce gourmet dinners for the Priests who participate in the Penance  Services; they assist in Parish dinners large and small when requested by the Pastor or other ministries; they provide set up and service for after Funeral repasts in conjunction with the Funeral Ministry. They have been the point of contact regarding food for Hails and Farewells, Anniversaries, our Grand Opening and our tenth anniversary celebration. Our Committee is made up of both Ladies and Gentlemen and generally meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 2 PM in the Parish Life Center.

ST. JOHN SENIOR SINGLES

This group, at present, serves the needs of those in their "senior" years. The purpose of this group is fellowship, fun, and service to our parish. Single, widowed, and divorced members of St. John's are welcome to join us at our monthly meetings, which are held the third Wednesday of each month at the Parish Life Center. Members are invited to dine together at a local restaurant after the meeting.

Additionally, there are several social get-togethers held in members' homes, plus there are opportunities to serve the parish in various projects.

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

If you are between the ages of 18-40, the Young Adult Ministry invites you to join us. Our objective is to make friends who share our faith, expand our understanding of our faith, strengthen our relationship with God and give back to our parish community.  We accomplish this through our own bible studies and socials, attending retreats with other young adults in Orlando, involvement in parish events, coordinating with the youth group and hosting Theology on Draft.

If you are interested in joining us please contact Valerie 321-514-3814 to get on the email list and to receive the group calendar of events.
