Christmas Giving Tree

Our parish Christmas Giving Trees will be located in the narthex of the church and foyer in the Parish Center November 23rd through December 20th. The trees will be decorated with ornaments that have gift preferences. Please take an ornament and bring joy, happiness, and the true meaning of Christmas to the individual listed on the ornament.

CLEAR ACRYLIC ROUND ORNAMENTS are for our neighbors in the community who are developmentally disabled and unable to work. As a result of their severe disabilities, they experience extreme financial hardship. Many have little or no contact with or support from family. Each has been carefully vetted as a true need by our Social Concerns Committee.

GREEN CHRISTMAS TREES are for needy children in our community. These gifts will be distributed by the Central Brevard Sharing Center. The Sharing Center’s mission is to provide emergency assistance and guidance to those in our community who struggle to obtain basic needs, i.e., food, clothing, and shelter. The children who receive these gifts are enrolled in the Sharing Center’s children’s weekend feeding program and/or are residing in a transitional housing program. The Sharing Center recognizes children as the innocent victims of poverty, and we have a special place in our heart for these children.

WHITE AND BLUE SNOWFLAKES are for Aging Matters. Aging Matters in Brevard is the lead agency for senior services, which include programs such as Meals on Wheels. The homebound seniors who qualify to receive a daily hot meal delivered by our volunteers are especially vulnerable to isolation and depression.

BROWN GINGERBREAD MEN are for the Homeless Young Adults and Ready for Life Brevard. Homeless Young Adults are individuals currently enrolled in the Transitional Living Program at Crosswinds Youth Services in Cocoa and participating in the St John's Open Table program. These young adults, aged 18-22, are homeless and receiving temporary housing and skill development as they work to complete High School or a GED program and seek employment and/or admission to college. Your prayers are appreciated.

Ready for Life Brevard is a privately-funded local initiative to help youth 15-25 years old transitioning from foster care to move towards independence. They provide all needed services for the youth – mentoring, a therapeutic fast-track GED program, case management, mental health counseling, help with housing and Medicaid, life skills classes, a food pantry, and general store. Established in 2020 and funded by the generosity of our local community, they have already given over 100 youth the chance at a better life.

RED AND GREEN ORNAMENTS are for Triad for Brevard Seniors. Brevard County Triad seeks to mobilize community resources to enhance the quality of life of Brevard senior citizens.

BLUE SNOWMEN are for the Holy Cross Mission in Peru. The gifts for the Mission should be in the form of a check made out to Congregation of Holy Cross-Peru.

Please remember to pray for the individual(s) receiving your gift(s) this Christmas season.

Please return all gifts UNWRAPPED and WITH THE ORNAMENT to the PARISH CENTER. DEADLINE is Monday, December 20th.

Thank you on behalf of the Social Concerns and Outreach Ministry.
