Family of the Month

Knights of Columbus Family of the Month

Mike and Kathy Mos have been members of St. John the Evangelist since April They met in kindergarten and grew up in Central Islip, NY. They started dating in high school and have been together ever since.

They were married in 1979 and moved from Long Island to Oklahoma for Mike’s first Army assignment. Their son, Brian, was born in Oklahoma and now lives in Mount Dora.

In 1984, Mike began his career with Northrop Grumman. The Mos family relocated to Florida when Northrop Grumman opened its Melbourne facility in 1987. Mike has since retired from Northrop Grumman and the Army Reserve.

Kathy is also retired after serving Brevard County as a teacher, education manager at the Brevard Zoo, and a longtime volunteer “Meals on Wheels” driver.

Although “cradle Catholics,” Mike and Kathy were not actively involved with the Church until they became members of St. John the Evangelist parish. They attended a Christ Renews His Parish Retreat and were inspired to get more involved in the parish and to prioritize their faith.

Soon after, Mike and Kathy became CRHP retreat directors, ushers at the Sunday 4:30 Mass and included scripture and prayer in their daily routines. Mike and Kathy have since provided support at many St. John’s events and coordinated the production of the recent photo directory.

Kathy is presently involved with leading preparation for the next women’s Christ Renews His Parish retreat and is a member of CCW. Mike leads a Men’s Live4More Group and serves on the Parish Council.

The Mos Family remains thankful for the love and hospitality shown to them by the St. John’s community, inspiring them to a deeper faith.

St. John’s is so blessed for the Mos family’s time, talent and the love they have for the parish.
