February Family of the month

St. John the Evangelist Church and the Knights of Columbus are pleased to name Bill and Peg Bruty February Family of the Month.

Bill and Peg are both cradle Catholics from large farm families in Iowa and were high school sweethearts who met at a Knights of Columbus dance. They married after college and, this June, will be married for 55 years. They have two married sons, Jeff and Jim, and four grandchildren.

Joining St. John’s parish in 2007, they attended the first Mass in the new all-purpose building. They then attended a “Time and Talent” session, became involved in church activities, and were members of the coffee & donut team for over 10 years. In addition, they were involved in the International Festival, attended Christ Renews His Parish, and are both are on the team to keep Mary’s courtyard clean and beautiful.

Peg was a member of the offertory accounting team for 12 years, was a former CCW treasurer, and is a current kitchen helper for the CCW meetings. Bill is currently a member of a small- group Bible study ministry.

After Bill’s retirement, both became actively involved in the Knights of Columbus. Bill became a 4th degree Knight and is currently an assembly officer. He is the chairman of the Knights’ annual “Coats for Kids” drive, and for the past 7 years, he co-chaired the Knights of Columbus weekly bingo operations which is a main source of funding for the Knights’ charities. Bill is a backup member of the team of brother Knights helping with Thursday church maintenance and Peg is currently Treasurer of the Knights Ladies Auxiliary.

Bill & Peg want to sincerely thank everyone for selecting them as recipients of the Knights “Family of the Month” award and are shining examples of what it is to be a volunteer. St. John’s and the Knights of Columbus are very blessed to have such dedicated and loving members of our community.
