St. John the Evangelist parish and the Knights of Columbus Council 6125 are pleased to announce that the January 2022 family of the month is Stephen and Beth Lowry.
Stephen and Beth met in 1999 as blind dates for a Christmas party. Even though both were raised by loving parents as cradle Catholics, they had drifted away from church attendance. They were married in 2006 on the island of Maui in a civil ceremony. By 2008, they were attending St. John’s regularly and had their marriage convalidated by Father Brad.
At a St. John’s Tootsie Roll Drive, Steve was recruited to become a member of the Knights of Columbus. His journey has included leadership roles as Grand Knight with the local Council 6125, Faithful Navigator with Assembly 0160, and District Deputy for the Florida State Council. Inspired by his service, Beth joined the Ladies Auxiliary Council 6125, serving as Treasurer, President and, currently, as chair of the membership committee. Together, they participate in Culture of Life programs and numerous charity events.
Stephen and Beth served as members of the God’s Heart .. Our Dream Campaign team for the construction of our new church sanctuary and also on the annual Golf Tournament and International Festival committees. Beth was a member of the Parish Finance Council and worked in the church office as bookkeeper. Christ Renews His Parish weekends for both Steve and Beth enhanced their faith journey. Their pilot lights were relit to share the Light of Christ! Stephen became a Minister of the Word as a Lector and Beth became an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Sacristan.
Steve and Beth continue to share their time and talents with the church. Steve and his brother Knights help with event parking and assist with cleaning the church floors on Thursdays. They continue to serve Father John and the parishioners of St. John’s with joy. Our community is blessed to have Stephen and Beth as parishioners!
