November Family of the Month

Brendan and Rachel Prendergast have been members of St. John’s parish since August, 2013. They have two children, Blaise and Auguste Lily.  Brendan and Rachel grew up in St. Petersburg, FL. They were raised Catholic and even graduated together at the local Catholic High School.

After high school Brendan went to the University of Notre Dame and is now a Radiation Oncologist here at Health First Hospital. Rachel graduated from Catholic University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Brendan and Rachel both attended Christ Renews His Parish retreats which made them fall even more in love with St. John’s. The family prayerfully attends Adoration often.

Rachel is a lector at the 9:00 a.m. Mass or 4:30 p.m. Sunday Mass, and Brendan loves engaging in the annual golf fundraiser for St. John’s.

Blaise attends grade 2 of religious ed, and Auguste Lily is in kindergarten. They are very active in the program, not only with the weekly lessons but also special events. They both enjoy attending faith formation classes. Blaise is very excited to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion this year.

When the Covid epidemic first started, Fr. John asked for us all to pray the rosary. Rachel brought the children to the Our Lady of Sorrows courtyard one day. They spread a blanket on the pavers in front of the Pieta and prayed the rosary together. What an awesome sight and a lesson for all of us!

Brendan and Rachel, thank you for sharing your faith with your children and shining your lights for all to see!
