October Family of the Month

The family of the month honor goes to Al and Eugena Washington who have been members since August 2009.

Al was born and raised in Fellsmere. He spent 4 years in the Air Force and then worked at the Space Center. During his 22 years at the Space Center, he first worked in the mail room then worked his way up the ladder until he was promoted to Project Manager.

In 1959 while Al was in the Air Force, he was drawn to the Catholic faith after talking with some of his Air Force buddies. He became a Catholic at St. Mary’s and was baptized by Fr. Farrelly.

Al has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 30 years. He helped in the kitchen on Bingo nights and volunteered for anything they needed. He loves to laugh and have a good time and enjoys bowling! So, my Brother Knights, you have a volunteer for anything you may need help with.

Al and Eugena have been married for 13 years and have 2 children who live locally.

A tidbit of information you may not know is that Al is an early-bird during the time he attended St. Mary’s, he was a regular at the 8:00 a.m. Mass. When he found out St. John’s had a 7:30 a.m. Mass, he joined St. John’s. This gave him time after Mass to go fishing or to work on his cars.

Al and Eugenia, thank you for your much-appreciated support to St. John’s and the Knights of Columbus!
