Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County is a ecumenical Christian housing ministry working in partnership with the community of Brevard County to eliminate substandard and inadequate housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with God's people in need.

FAITH, FAMILY, DESTINY

. . . God will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.

Our St John the Evangelist “Faith Build Project” is supporting the “Patricia Barber Family”.  Their Home to-be is 2209 Cedarwood Drive, Melbourne (a 20 minute drive from SJE). Patricia is a single mother, has four children and employed at Holmes Regional Hospital.  She has three sons ages 21 (attending college in St Louis), 16, and 13, and a daughter age 7.  Patricia has always dreamed of her children having a reliable and stable home.  She is a member of Greater Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) and has been an active member for over 10 years.  During tough times, Patricia relies heavily on prayer.  Her belief is “If all you’re going to do is worry, then don’t pray and if you’re going to pray about it, then don’t worry.”  Patricia is tired of the ongoing drug abuse by neighbors, violence and constant increase in public housing rent and has worked hard to get her family into the Habitat for Humanity Program.

“Our Faith Build project began January 12, 2019. Coupled with other community churches and Habitat for Humanity, we have had the privilege and opportunity to build, from the ground up, a new home for the Patricia Barber Family.  Because of our amazing Parishioner support from folks like you, we’ve participated in and seen a home built and an entire neighborhood completely transform. Through this transformation, selected Habitat for Humanity families now achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life. Our work and volunteer efforts recently received accolades and was singled out as ‘The Best’ by the Habitat staff volunteer Coordinator. Our Habitat Core Team thanks all of you who participated and help make this new home a reality. As we complete our Faith Build home this month (estimation), we continue requesting Parishioner support for scheduling volunteers as we complete the final home phases (trim, painting touch up, various ‘punch list’ items as the last of the Melbourne City inspections are completed). “
