Adult Religious Education

Scripture Study -- When it comes to studying the Bible, some Catholics can't get enough information and understanding about the Old and New Testaments. Many Catholics have "Bible Insecurity" -- embarrassment for not knowing more and fear sounding "stupid" in a Bible study class. A study group at St. John's is a place where, whatever your Bible background, you'll feel comfortable and your knowledge and faith will grow.

Here are some adult events, choose one:

Tuesday Evenings: Adult Bible Study - The Acts of the Apostles

Acts is the book of scripture that traces the beginnings of the Church, We will be using the book Gospel of the Holy Spirit: Meditations and Commentary of the Acts of the Apostles by Alfred McBride, 0. Praem. The Book can be ordered from Amazon.

Group meets on Tuesday evening, 6:30-8 PM in Room 5. Begins Jan.7

For further information, contact Terri Tagye at [email protected] or 321-258-6383.

Wednesday Mornings: Adult Bible Study - The Book of Job

The plight of Job leads him to challenge the religious wisdom of his age as he begs God to explain his suffering. His friends accuse him of sin, but by journeying with Job through his affliction we are compelled to ponder innocent suffering and the ultimate value of friendship with God.

This 7 session course will use a Study Guide developed by the Diocese of Little Rock, a Commentary, guided discussion led by Deacon Michael McElwee, and video lectures to enhance our appreciation of this important book of the Bible.

Group meets on Wednesdays from 10:30 am till noon starting with an Introduction on February 12, 2020 in Fr. Payton Conference room (former chapel in office building). Cost of two book study set is $16 (checks payable to St. John the Evangelist). For more information or to register contact Deacon Michael at [email protected] or 321-946-3388.
