St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community and the Knights of Columbus Council #6125 are proud to announce that Gwyn (Mickey) and Theresa (Terry) Gallagher are the Family of the Month for August.
Mickey and Terry joined the parish in May of 2019. Mickey was born in Richmond, VA, and Terry was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA. They met in Florida and were married in 1964. In 1970, they were among the Charter Members of St. Paul of the Cross Parish in North Palm Beach, FL. Mickey and Terry have 3 children: Lee and husband Ed in Indialantic, Pat and wife Debbie in Orlando, and Shawn and wife Kristi in Melbourne. They have 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Of becoming members of St. John’s, Mickey says, “When we arrived in 2019, we were searching for a parish church that was a good fit, one where we felt comfortable.” After attending all the other churches in the area, they finally came to Mass at St. John’s. “Of all the churches we visited, this was the most welcoming,” Terry said. “From the first day, we felt like we belonged.” In July 2021, Terry says, she was bored, and so she made an appointment with Fr. John to talk about possible ministry work. He asked if she would stock the new gift shop, and she said yes. “Low and behold, at the following Sunday Mass, Fr. John announced that Mickey and I would be running the gift shop!” Terry also joined the Arts and Environment Ministry Team in 2022. Thank you, Mickey and Terry, for your service to this community.
