Prison Ministry

Our Prison Ministry brings the love, hope, and presence of Christ to those who are incarcerated and supports individuals as they prepare to return to their communities. Parishioners serve in several ways through three distinct ministries at the Central Florida Reception Center (CFRC):

Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos is a non-denominational Christian prison ministry modeled after the Cursillo movement and similar in spirit to our parish’s Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) experience. Twice each year, volunteers lead a four-day retreat designed to share the love and hope of Christ and build Christian community among those who are incarcerated.

Prayer is an essential part of every Kairos retreat. A prayer chain is created for each retreat, surrounding the participants and retreat team in continuous prayer. Our Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and the Men of St. Joseph ministries help support these prayer chains by adding the names of parishioners who commit to pray. Prayers are always needed and are one of the most important ways our parish community can support this ministry.

Our parish also supports the retreats in other special ways. Our CCW provides cookies that are shared with participants during the retreat meals, while our Youth Group creates placemats featuring uplifting artwork and inspirational messages.

Catholic Services

Each Friday, our volunteers bring the Holy Eucharist to our incarcerated brothers in Christ and lead a Catholic Communion Service. The service begins with faith-filled music, followed by the upcoming Sunday Scripture readings, a reflection on the readings, reception of Holy Communion, and closing prayers.

This ministry provides an important opportunity for those who are incarcerated to remain connected to their Catholic faith, receive Jesus in the Eucharist, and grow in their relationship with Christ.

St. Peter Claver Prison Ministry

St. Peter Claver Prison Ministry is a Catholic ministry focused on helping incarcerated men prepare for life after prison. Through its End of Sentence (EOS) services, the ministry assists men as they transition back into society, providing support and resources to help them successfully begin the next chapter of their lives.
